Twilight Quotes
Here there's a pretty wide selection of quotes I enjoy from each and every chapter, you're going to find mostly the humorous lines, because that's what I like the most. It's been divided into four parts so that this page doesn't get too long. Enjoy!
Preface to Chapter 6 (Scary Stories) | Chapter 7 (Nightmare) to Chapter 12 (Balancing) | Chapter 13 (Confessions) to Chapter 18 (The Hunt) | Chapter 19 (Goodbyes) to Epilogue
Preface
'When life offers you a dream so far beyond any of your expectations, it's not reasonable to grieve when it comes to an end.' - Bella (narrating)
1. First Sight
'When I landed in Port Angeles, it was raining. I didn't see it as an omen — just unavoidable. I'd already said my goodbyes to the sun.' - Bella (narrating)
'"I'm Isabella Swan," I informed her, and saw the immediate awareness light her eyes. I was expected, a topic of gossip no doubt. Daughter of the Chief's flighty ex-wife, come home at last.' - Bella (narrating)
'"Yes!" Jessica agreed with another giggle. "They're all together though — Emmett and Rosalie, and Jasper and Alice, I mean. And they live together." Her voice held all the shock and condemnation of the small town, I thought critically. But, if I was being honest, I had to admit that even in Phoenix, it would cause gossip.' - Jessica and Bella (narrating)
'I peeked up at him one more time, and regretted it. He was glaring down at me again, his black eyes full of revulsion. As I flinched away from him, shrinking against my chair, the phrase if looks could kill suddenly ran through my mind.' - Bella (narrating)
"So, did you stab Edward Cullen with a pencil or what? I've never seen him act like that." - Mike
2. Open Book
'But I knew myself too well to think I would really have the guts to do it. I made the Cowardly Lion look like the terminator.' - Bella (narrating)
Mike: "Haven't you ever seen snow fall before?"
Bella: "Sure I have." [Pause] "On TV."
"Ladies first, partner?" - Edward (in biology class)
"Am I annoying you?" [Edward] asked. He sounded amused.
I glanced at him without thinking… and told the truth again. "Not exactly. I'm more annoyed at myself. My face is so easy to read — my mother always calls me her open book." I frowned.
"On the contrary, I find you very difficult to read." Despite everything that I'd said and he'd guessed, he sounded like he meant it.
"You must be a good reader then," I replied.
"Usually." - Edward and Bella
'Mike skipped quickly to my side and picked up my books for me. I imagined him with a wagging tail.' - Bella (narrating)
3. Phenomenum
Edward: "Be careful, I think you hit your head pretty hard."
Bella: "Ow,"
Edward: "That's what I thought."
Edward: "You're not going to let it go, are you?"
Bella: "No."
Edward: "In that case… I hope you enjoy disappointment."
4. Invitations
'I looked down at my book as soon as his eyes released me, trying to find my place. Cowardly as ever, I shifted my hair over my right shoulder to hide my face. I couldn't believe the rush of emotion pulsing through me — just because he'd happened to look at me for the first time in a half-dozen weeks. I couldn't allow him to have this level of influence over me. It was pathetic. More than pathetic, it was unhealthy.' - Bella (narrating)
"What? Are you speaking to me again?"
His lips twitched, fighting a smile. "No, not really," - Bella and Edward
Will you ask me to the spring dance?" [Tyler] continued.
"I'm not going to be in town, Tyler." My voice sounded a little sharp. I had to remember it wasn't his fault that Mike and Eric had already used up my quota of patience for the day.
"Yeah, Mike said that," he admitted.
"Then why —"
He shrugged. "I was hoping you were just letting him down easy."
Okay, it was completely his fault. - Tyler and Bella
'Of course he wasn't interested in me, I thought angrily, my eyes stinging — a delayed reaction to the onions. I wasn't interesting. And he was. Interesting… and brilliant… and mysterious… and perfect… and beautiful… and possibly able to lift full-sized vans with one hand.' - Bella (narrating)
Bella: "How do you do that?"
Edward: "Do what?"
Bella: "Appear out of thin air."
Edward: "Bella, it's not my fault if you are exceptionally unobservant."
Edward: "I wanted to ask you something, but you sidetracked me,"
Bella: "Do you have a multiple personality disorder?"
Edward: "You're doing it again."
'Stupid, shiny Volvo owner.' - Bella (narrating)
"I said it would be better if we weren't friends, not that I didn't want to be." - Edward
5. Blood Type
Edward: "I always say too much when I'm talking to you — that's one of the problems."
Bella: "Don't worry — I don't understand any of it,"
Edward: "I'm counting on that."
(About what Edward is) 'I blushed. I had been vacillating during the last month between Bruce Wayne and Peter Parker. There was no way I was going to own up to that.' - Bella (narrating)
'"Please?" [Edward] breathed, leaning toward me.
I blinked, my mind going blank. Holy crow, how did he do that?' - Bella (narrating)
Edward: "Please tell me just one little theory."
Bella: "Um, well, bitten by a radioactive spider?"
Edward: "That's not very creative,"
Bella: "I'm sorry, that's all I've got,"
Edward: "You're not even close,"
Bella: "No spiders?"
Edward: "Nope."
Bella: "And no radioactivity?"
Edward: "None."
Bella: "Dang,"
Edward: "Kryptonite doesn't bother me, either,"
Edward: "Bella. Can you hear me?"
Bella: "No, Go away."
Bella: "You were right,"
Edward: "I usually am — but about what in particular this time?"
Bella: "Ditching is healthy."
'As [Edward] pulled out of the parking lot, I was preparing to give him the silent treatment — my face in full pout mode — but then I recognized the music playing, and my curiosity got the better of my intentions.' - Bella (narrating)
6. Scary Stories
'That night at dinner, Charlie seemed enthusiastic about my trip to La Push in the morning. I think he felt guilty for leaving me home alone on the weekends, but he'd spent too many years building his habits to break them now. Of course he knew the names of all the kids going, and their parents, and their great-grandparents, too, probably. He seemed to approve. I wondered if he would approve of my plan to ride to Seattle with Edward Cullen. Not that I was going to tell him.' - Bella (narrating)
Bella "[The truck] does great in a collision,"
Jacob: "I don't think a tank could take out that old monster,"
Bella: "So you build cars?"
Jacob: "When I have free time, and parts. You wouldn't happen to know where I could get my hands on a master cylinder for a 1986 Volkswagen Rabbit?"
Bella: "Sorry, I haven't seen any lately, but I'll keep my eyes open for you."
